An Azure platform as a service offer that is used to deploy web and cloud applications.
A GitHub Student Developer Pack approval does not automatically make an account eligible for Azure for Students. Azure for Students requires all of the following:
- Full-time student status at an accredited, degree-granting institution.
- Academic status verification through the institution email address.
- No existing Azure for Students subscription, because the offer is limited to one subscription per eligible customer.
If approval exists in GitHub but Azure keeps denying the benefit, the most common supported causes are:
- The institution domain is not recognized by the verification system.
- There is a mismatch between GitHub and Microsoft account details.
- Student status could not be automatically validated.
Try this path:
- Confirm the GitHub Student Developer Pack is already approved.
- Use Sign in with GitHub during Azure student verification.
- Make sure the email on the GitHub account is the university email used for verification, if possible.
- Sign in with a personal Microsoft account, not a work or school account.
- Verify that the university email domain is active and can receive mail.
- Retry in an InPrivate/Incognito browser session.
If Azure still denies the request after that, the supported next step is manual verification through Azure Support.
Also note: if a paid Azure subscription was already created, that can affect eligibility for Azure for Students.
