I have changed computers and now need to create a new lab/ test instance of D365 F&O for the remaining modules that I need to complete. Where can I find a link to set up this environment on my new machine without having to go through all the previous learnings to find the original setup path(s)?

For a new Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations lab or test environment, the supported setup path is through Lifecycle Services.

    Use this path:

    1. Open the Lifecycle Services project used for the training environment.
    2. Go to Environments.
    3. Select + to deploy a new environment.
    4. Select the required application and platform version.
    5. Select an environment topology.
    6. If deploying a cloud-hosted environment, select the Azure connector and then select Deploy.

If a local developer VM is needed on the new machine, the available setup guidance is grouped under the developer environment training module, including:

    • access cloud-hosted development environments
    • set up a VHD for first-time use
    • set up and manage a downloadable VHD for development
    • access and configure Visual Studio

    Important limits and guidance:

    • Development environments are considered disposable and shouldn’t contain business-critical data.
    • These environments aren’t intended for performance testing.
    • Each tenant supports only 120 environments.
    • A developer account requires Remote Desktop access to the development VM and must be an administrator on the VM.
