Configuring preferences and options in Outlook.com
Dear Joe B,
I have seen several recent cases involving Outlook spell-check suggestions not working correctly. However, there has been no official announcement about this behavior, and no confirmed fix has been published.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
- Update Outlook, close it completely, restart the device, and test again.
- In New Outlook or Outlook on the web, open a draft and select Options > Editor > Open Editor. Try applying the correction from the Editor pane instead of selecting the underlined word directly.
- Open Editor Settings, confirm that spelling corrections and the correct proofing language are enabled, or use Reset to default if available.
- Test the same account in Outlook on the web. If it works there, the issue is likely limited to the desktop app. For New Outlook on Windows, you can also try Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Outlook (new) > Advanced options > Repair.
If the problem continues, please report it through Help > Feedback in Outlook and include a screenshot, your Outlook version, and the steps that reproduce it. This sends the report and available diagnostic details to the product team for further investigation.
Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, cannot directly change Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.
Hopefully this issue will be sorted out soon. Thank you so much for your patience!
Warm regards.
