A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Hi Robert,
OneNote desktop does not provide a built-in VBA macro recorder or a single global shortcut that opens the Font box directly. However, you can use the Ribbon KeyTips with Dragon, without the additional mouse clicks and Tab commands.
For the English US Ribbon, the usual KeyTip sequences are:
- Font: Alt, H, FF
- Font Size: Alt, H, FS
- Font Color: Alt, H, FC
Please note that FS is normally used for Font Size, while FC opens Font Color.
For example, the following Dragon command should place the cursor directly in the Font box and change the font to Calibri:
Sub Main
SendKeys "{F10}"
SendKeys "h"
SendKeys "ff"
Wait 0.5
SendKeys "Calibri"
SendKeys "{Enter}"
End Sub
For Font Size:
Sub Main
SendKeys "{F10}"
SendKeys "h"
SendKeys "fs"
Wait 0.5
SendKeys "12"
SendKeys "{Enter}"
End Sub
To open the Font Color menu:
Sub Main
SendKeys "{F10}"
SendKeys "h"
SendKeys "fc"
End Sub
The Font Color control opens a color palette rather than a text box, so you would need to add arrow-key commands followed by [Enter] to select a particular color.
KeyTips can vary depending on the OneNote version, Ribbon configuration, display language, and keyboard layout. You can verify the currently assigned letters by pressing [Alt] or [F10] manually and checking the labels displayed on the Ribbon. Please also notes that its documented shortcuts refer to the US keyboard layout, so other layouts may differ.
If your main goal is to use the same font, size, and color on all new pages, you can also configure them under File > Options > Default font. This setting applies to new pages, but it does not update existing notes.

I hope this helps you access the font controls more easily in OneNote. If you have any further questions or updates, please don’t hesitate to share.
Kind regards,
