Are you telling me that Microsoft made a mistake by publishing on Google Play, the default store for all Android devices, that the app requires Android 13 or higher, when on other Android stores like Xiaomi's it can be downloaded perfectly fine?

How can you even think about moving people to a new version of the app and make a mistake like this, which still hasn't been fixed, and there are a lot of people with the problem, who will probably end up moving to other AI apps that actually work properly...

I myself have opened these 2 issues:

    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/microsoft-copilot/android-12-users-cannot-access-copilot-after-migration/4558978

    https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/475871fd-79b6-f111-aad1-6045bd8232d6

I just checked how Microsoft Copilot installs correctly from Samsung's Galaxy store, the problem is that it installs an app called Microsoft 365 which is very similar to the old Microsoft 365 Copilot. They have a mess with the apps that I don't understand why they don't fix it immediately, you can't migrate people and not have things properly tested...

    Greetings.

    Hi @Abdul Wahid

    Great — thanks for confirming.

Since Microsoft 365 Copilot installed successfully from Xiaomi GetApps and is working normally, that strongly suggests the phone itself is compatible and the issue was with Google Play’s device/app compatibility catalog rather than Android 12 or the Redmi Note 11 Pro hardware.

    I would still recommend:

    • keeping the app updated through Xiaomi GetApps
    • installing the pending MIUI system update
    • periodically checking Google Play again, in case the compatibility flag is corrected later

For now, if the GetApps version is stable, there is no need to sideload APKs or make any other changes.

Thanks for posting the result — this may help other Xiaomi users who see “your device is not compatible” in Google Play even though the app works correctly.

    Hi @Abdul Wahid

    Thanks for the details.

    Since your device is:

    • Android 12
    • Play Protect certified
    • using an updated Google Play Store

it already meets Microsoft’s published Android requirement for Copilot, which is Android 10 or later.

I agree that a pending MIUI update should not normally make Microsoft 365 incompatible. However, since you recently factory-reset the phone and there is already a system update waiting, I would install MIUI 13.0.7.0 before doing any further troubleshooting.

A system update can refresh device compatibility information and system components used by Google Play, even if the Android major version remains the same.

    After the update:

    1. Restart the phone.
    2. Open Google Play Store and let it update/sync for a few minutes.
    3. Clear only the Google Play Store cache.
    4. Search for the Microsoft 365 Copilot app again.

    If Google Play still shows:

“Your device isn’t compatible with this version”

despite Android 12 and Play Protect certification, I would then consider this a Play Store/device-catalog compatibility issue rather than an actual Android requirement problem.

At that point, please provide the exact model number shown under Settings → About phone. The Redmi Note 11 Pro has several regional/hardware variants, and Google Play compatibility can be assigned by the exact device/build fingerprint rather than only by the commercial model name.

I would not recommend sideloading an APK yet. Since the app previously worked on this same phone, it is better to identify why Google Play is now marking this build as incompatible.

In the meantime, Microsoft Copilot can still be used from a supported mobile browser.

    Hi @Abdul Wahid

Your phone running Android 12 should meet Microsoft’s current minimum requirement for the Microsoft Copilot mobile app, which is Android 10 or later.

Since the app worked on the same device before the reset, I would not assume the phone suddenly became unsupported because of the Android version.

    I would check the following:

Make sure Google Play Store and Google Play Services are fully updated.

    Open:

Settings → Apps → Google Play Store → Storage

and clear the Play Store cache.

Do the same for Google Play Services, then restart the phone.

In the Play Store, verify that the device is still Play Protect certified:

Play Store → Profile → Settings → About → Play Protect certification

    It should show:

    Device is certified

Also check whether there is a pending MIUI/HyperOS or Android system update.

One important test would be to open the Microsoft Copilot app listing from a browser while signed in with the same Google account. If Google Play still reports that the Redmi Note 11 Pro is incompatible, despite Android 12 and Play Protect certification, then this may be a Play Store/device-catalog compatibility issue rather than an Android-version problem.

Microsoft still documents installation of the Microsoft Copilot app on supported Android phones and tablets, so Android 12 itself should not prevent installation.

As a temporary workaround, you can still use Copilot from the mobile browser while the Play Store compatibility issue is investigated.
