Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Hi @Amanda Coleman,
Thank you for posting your question to Microsoft Q&A Forum.
In Classic Outlook, the reminder window stayed open until you manually dismissed or snoozed it. In New Outlook, Microsoft has changed how reminders behave, and the persistent “always‑open reminder window” is not currently supported the same way.
New Outlook integrates with Windows notifications and uses the redesigned Reminder popup style. This popup does not behave like the old persistent Reminder Window from Classic Outlook.
According to Add or delete notifications or reminders in Outlook - Microsoft Support and Turn new message alert pop-up on or off in Outlook - Microsoft Support, New Outlook lets you pick your reminder style:
Settings → General → Notifications → Calendar section → choose “Reminder” popup style, and toggle sound if needed.
This will give you a visible pop‑up, but not a persistent “always-on-top window” like Classic Outlook.
The Reminders Window in New Outlook has only been rolled out to select preview rings, Insider builds, and targeted tenants, and it’s not yet available to all users. The new Outlook is built on a different architecture that leverages web technologies, so it doesn’t offer the same level of integration as Classic Outlook and is still under active development. Microsoft development team is continuously enhancing Outlook based on user feedback, and your input plays a valuable role in shaping future updates. If this feature is important to your workflow, I highly recommend submitting a suggestion directly from Outlook by navigating to: Outlook (new) · Community portal. This is the most effective way to ensure your voice reaches the product team and can be considered for future improvements.
Once you've submitted your feedback, feel free to share the link here in the comments. I’ll be happy to upvote it to help bring more visibility.
Additionally, since many other users have expressed similar concerns but may not know where to submit feedback, if my response has helped you better understand the situation and guided you toward a possible next step, please mark it as the “Accepted Answer.” Your action will help pin this post to the top, making it easier for others in the community who are experiencing the same issue to find your feedback and support it.
Thank you again for your time and for raising this important usability concern.
