Microsoft Research AutoCollage 2008 cannot be officially downloaded or transferred to the new Windows 11 computer because Microsoft no longer distributes, supports, or supplies activation keys for it.^1^
Options still available
- Check Microsoft Store Library
- Sign in to Windows with the Microsoft account originally used to purchase AutoCollage.
- Open Start > Microsoft Store > Library.
- Look for AutoCollage and select Install if it appears.
- Search your old computer and backups
Look for:
- The original AutoCollage installer.
- Purchase-confirmation email.
- Registration or activation key.
- Download archives, external drives, or installation media.
- If you have both the installer and key You can attempt a fresh installation on Windows 11, but compatibility and activation are not guaranteed. Microsoft recommends freshly installing programs on a new PC rather than copying their installed folders; older software may not have a Windows 11-compatible version.^3^
Do not download AutoCollage installers or activation tools from unofficial websites; discontinued software downloads can be modified or contain malware. If it is absent from your Store Library and you no longer have the original installer and key, the practical option is to use a current collage application from Microsoft Store while retaining the old computer for existing AutoCollage projects.
