A web-based tool in Microsoft 365 that enables users to quickly create surveys, quizzes, polls, and feedback forms.
Microsoft Forms currently has no documented Newest First sorting control in Check individual results, and no public roadmap commitment for that option has been identified.
Current behavior
The documented Individual Results interface supports:
- Moving between submissions with the left and right arrows.
- Selecting a respondent from the respondent list.
- Choosing Show more respondents when there are more than 50.
- Opening a specific response by entering its response number in the Respondent field.
- Sorting columns under More Details for an individual question—but that sorting does not apply to the overall Individual Results sequence. ^1^
Your Excel test is behaving as designed: sorting or otherwise changing the workbook does not modify the form or the ordering shown in Microsoft Forms. ^1^
Submit the feature request
Microsoft’s supported feedback route is built into Forms:
- Open Microsoft Forms and any form you own.
- In the upper-right corner, select More form settings (
…). - Select Feedback.
- Request: Allow Check individual results to sort responses by newest first or oldest first.
- Include the high-volume scenarios you described and explain that Excel sorting does not alter navigation within Forms.
Microsoft explicitly directs Forms suggestions through More form settings → Feedback. ^2^
There is also an existing public request for Forms sorting that can be reviewed or supported in the Microsoft Feedback Portal. ^3^
Microsoft Learn Q&A cannot forward a post internally or confirm an unpublished development schedule. For an organizational Microsoft 365 account, administrators can also monitor Microsoft 365 admin center → Health → Message center for announced Forms changes; Microsoft identifies Message center as the location for upcoming and changed features. ^4^
