How to completely hide or auto-minimize the floating screen-sharing toolbar

Currently, when sharing the screen in Microsoft Teams, the floating presenter toolbar ("You are sharing your screen") remains visible at the top and frequently blocks browser tabs, menu bars, and other UI controls.

Is there any setting or toggle to:

  1. Completely hide the floating toolbar during screen share.
  2. Auto-collapse/minimize it into a subtle indicator that stays out of the way until hovered.

    Hi Sorapet Thongnood,

Thank you for reaching out and for clarifying your concern.

Currently, Microsoft Teams does not provide a dedicated setting to permanently hide or automatically minimize the floating presenter toolbar during screen sharing.

However, you can use the following workarounds:

    1. Move the toolbar: While sharing your screen, you can drag the floating toolbar to another position on the screen where it is less likely to obstruct important content or controls.
    2. Hide the toolbar: You can use the hide option on the floating toolbar, if available in your Teams client version, to temporarily remove it from view.

If you'd like to see this functionality added, you can submit your suggestion through the Microsoft Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates.

Wishing you a smooth rest of your day.

Teams does not provide a setting to permanently hide the presenter toolbar, but leaving it unpinned lets it auto-collapse after you move the pointer away.

    Auto-collapse the toolbar

    1. Start sharing your screen.
    2. Move the pointer to the top of the shared screen to display the presenter toolbar.
    3. If Pin is active, select it to unpin the toolbar.
    4. Move the pointer away from the toolbar.

The toolbar remains visible momentarily and then retracts. Moving the pointer back to the top of the shared screen brings it down again. The toolbar is visible only to the presenter, not meeting participants. ^1^

    If it still obstructs controls

    Drag the toolbar elsewhere:

    • Hold its drag handle, move it away from the browser tabs or menu bar, and release it.
    • Alternatively, drag from any noninteractive space between the toolbar controls.
    • Do not select Pin afterward unless you want it to remain fixed at that location. ^1^

There is no documented user toggle or Teams meeting policy for completely disabling this toolbar. Teams administrators can control whether users may share an entire screen or a single application, but the documented content-sharing policy does not include presenter-toolbar visibility. ^2^

If the toolbar remains permanently expanded while unpinned, that differs from the documented behavior. Update or restart the Teams client and report the behavior through Settings and more → Help → Give feedback, including the Teams version and operating system.
