Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Cancel the Microsoft 365 subscription from the Microsoft account that purchased it; the cancellation page will automatically determine whether the $9.99 charge qualifies for a refund.
Cancel and request the refund
- Open Microsoft Services & subscriptions.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft 365.
- Select Cancel subscription; it may appear as Upgrade or Cancel.
- Review the cancellation page and select I don't want my subscription.
- If eligible, follow the displayed refund instructions. Refund eligibility is determined automatically during cancellation—not all cancellations generate a refund.[^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
In most cases, an initial purchase may qualify if cancelled within 30 days or before the first recurring billing date, whichever occurs sooner. The most recent recurring charge may qualify when cancelled within 30 days after payment, limited to one refund per Microsoft account and subscription product.[^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
If the cancellation option is missing
- Turn on recurring billing appears: The subscription is already scheduled to expire, and no further automatic charge should occur.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support")
- Purchased through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer: Request cancellation and a refund from that seller, not Microsoft.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support")
- Still cannot cancel: Check that the correct personal Microsoft account is signed in and that no overdue balance is preventing cancellation. Then use Microsoft’s guided support.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription | Microsoft Support")
Microsoft Q&A cannot access the account, cancel the subscription, or issue the refund directly.
