I have created a document on my mobile PowerPoint app which I am trying to sync with OneDrive on my computer, the document is not syncing any changes due to my storage being full. I have since deleted everything other than this document off my OneDrive and from the recycle bin. it still says my storage is full.

    Hello,

Before making any changes in OneDrive, make sure you have a copy of the PowerPoint file saved locally.

If your OneDrive storage is full, your account may be frozen. So, after you upgrade your storage plan or free up space, it can take up to 24 hours for the updated storage status to appear in your account.

After 24 hours, sign in to OneDrive online and check whether your storage has been updated. Once it has, you can sync your files between your mobile device and PC using OneDrive.

Back up the PowerPoint file outside OneDrive, then check the storage quota through OneDrive on the web; if this is a work or school account, also empty its separate Second-stage Recycle Bin.

    1. Protect the document

Because OneDrive cannot upload, edit, or synchronize new changes while the account is over quota, keep an additional local copy of the presentation on the phone or export/share a copy to another safe location before troubleshooting. Existing cloud files are read-only while the quota is exceeded.^1^

Also verify that PowerPoint on the phone, OneDrive on the web, and OneDrive on the computer display the same account address. Otherwise, deleting files from one account will not release storage in the account containing the presentation.

    2. Check the web storage reading

Sign in to OneDrive in a browser with that same account:

    • Personal account: Open Manage your OneDrive storage and review what is consuming the quota.
    • Work or school account: Select Storage used in the lower-left corner and review the largest items.^1^

Since the normal Recycle Bin has already been emptied, do not repeat that cleanup.

    3. If this is a work or school account

The primary and second-stage recycle bins are separate:

    1. Open OneDrive in a browser.
    2. Select Recycle Bin.
    3. Scroll to the bottom and select Second-stage Recycle Bin.
    4. Permanently delete any remaining items.
    5. Wait approximately one hour, then reload the storage page and retry the sync.^2^

If it remains full, inspect the detailed usage:

    1. Select Settings (gear) → More settings.
    2. Under Features and storage, select Storage Metrics.
    3. Open Documents and look for unexpectedly large folders or Version History.
    4. Delete only unwanted historical versions; retain any versions that might be needed.^3^

If Storage Metrics does not explain the usage, contact the organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator. They may need to check:

    • The quota assigned to the OneDrive site.
    • Whether the organization’s pooled storage is full.
    • Retention policies or a hidden Preservation Hold Library retaining deleted data.
    • Whether the quota requires an administrative refresh or increase.^3^

    4. If this is a personal account

    Check these remaining documented causes:

    • Subscription status: An expired subscription or failed renewal can reduce the available OneDrive quota.
    • Shared folders: A folder shared with and added to your OneDrive can count against the quota; remove any unneeded shared folder from OneDrive using Microsoft’s shared-folder management guidance.
    • Storage update delay: Storage availability may take a short time to reflect deletions, even after the Recycle Bin is emptied.^4^

If the web storage page still shows full after the storage reading has had time to update—and it shows no content accounting for that usage—contact Microsoft Support from the Need more help? → Personal accounts → Contact Microsoft Support section.^1^

Do not unlink or reset OneDrive until the mobile presentation has been backed up elsewhere, because its latest changes may not yet exist in the cloud.
