How do I start a live chat with a technician

Trying to use Microsoft web pages for technical help is futile. Only success with issue yesterday was a live chat with a technician who knew what he was doing, not the incompetent AI help tools you force people to use. I need to start a live chat NOW

    Hi Richard Pearce,

I understand how frustrating it is when you need immediate technical assistance but keep being directed through automated help options.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, cannot access support cases, back-end systems, or connect customers directly with a live technician. I can only provide general technical guidance based on the information shared publicly.

Since you were able to reach a technician previously, please return to the Microsoft Contact Support page, sign in with the same Microsoft account, and select Request history to find the Case number then request another chat session. If the Support Assistant appears, type “I want to talk to a live chat agent” .When connected with a new agent, provide that case number and ask the agent to review the previous case notes. This can help reduce the time needed to review the issue and allow support to continue from where the previous conversation ended.

Live chat availability may vary depending on the product, issue, region, support hours, and subscription. I know this isn't the news you were hoping for, but I wanted to make sure you got the most accurate information about your situation. Thank you so much for your understanding.

For a personal Microsoft account or home Microsoft 365/Windows support, use Get Help or the support contact page to reach live chat.

    Fastest path in Windows:

    1. Press Windows + I.
    2. Go to System.
    3. Open Get help.
    4. In the search box, enter a short description of the issue.
    5. If self-help does not resolve it, select Contact Support.
    6. Select the affected product or service.
    7. Select the support category, then choose Confirm.
    8. Choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser.
    9. Confirm the contact information if prompted. A chat window opens in a new tab.

    From the Microsoft support site:

    1. Open the Microsoft support contact experience.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft personal account.
    3. Enter agent support or Contact Support in the search box.
    4. Select Contact Support.
    5. Choose Microsoft 365 and Office or Windows, depending on the issue.
    6. Choose Technical Support.
    7. Select Confirm.
    8. Choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser.

Important: chat availability depends on hours of operation, product, scenario, and subscription.
