With the amount of online meetings being held, is MS going to release an update for Teams to be able to toggle between 2 screens when sharing screens?

Teams does not currently document a control for switching the shared monitor during an active share, and no specific release for that capability appears on the public Microsoft 365 roadmap as of November 4, 2026.^1^

    Current workaround

To move sharing from one monitor to the other:

    1. Move the pointer to the top of the currently shared screen to display the presenter toolbar.
    2. Select Stop sharing.
    3. In the meeting controls, select Share.
    4. Select the other screen—or select a specific application under Window.

Microsoft’s current presentation guide documents selecting an entire screen or a window and using Stop sharing, but it does not list a “switch monitor” control on the presenter toolbar.^2^

If the same application is needed throughout the presentation, sharing its Window instead of an entire screen may be smoother: the application can be moved between monitors without changing what Teams shares. Only that application window is visible to attendees.

    Dual-display meeting rooms

Teams Rooms has a separate Swap screens function, including a temporary in-meeting option, but this swaps the room displays’ layout; it does not switch which desktop monitor an individual presenter is sharing.^3^

Monitor-switching announcements, if Microsoft schedules the feature, should appear on the Microsoft 365 roadmap or the Teams “What’s new” page.^4^

    Hi Stevens,

Thank you for your question about switching between two screens while sharing content in Microsoft Teams meetings.

With so many online meetings taking place, being able to move smoothly between screens is important for clear and effective presentations. At present, Teams shares one screen or one window at a time, which is why your second screen needs to be selected separately during a meeting.

In the meantime, the following options can help you switch between screens easily:

Option 1: Switch to another screen while presenting

    • First, during your meeting, select Share from the meeting controls.
    • Next, under Screen, choose the second monitor you would like to present.
    • As a result, Teams will replace your current shared screen with the new one, and attendees will see the change right away.

Option 2: Share a specific window

    • To begin, select Share and then choose Window instead of Screen.
    • After that, select the application you would like to present, such as PowerPoint or your web browser.
    • Finally, move that window between your two monitors whenever needed, and attendees will continue to see it on either screen.

Regarding a future update: Currently, there is no confirmed release date for a feature that toggles between two screens with a single click. However, you are welcome to submit this suggestion directly to the Teams product team by selecting Settings and more (...) and then Feedback within Teams. Additionally, you can follow upcoming Teams features on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to reply to this at any time.
