Recover the email address by using Microsoft’s Forgotten username lookup with the recovery phone number or alternate email attached to the account.
Recover the email address
- Open Forgotten your Microsoft account username ^1^.
- Enter the security phone number or alternate email address that may have been linked to your Microsoft account.
- Request and enter the security code.
- Microsoft will display a masked username, such as
j********@outlook.com. - Sign in to Microsoft Learn with that account and check whether your Azure Fundamentals certificate appears in your profile.
If multiple recovery phone numbers or email addresses might have been used, repeat the lookup with each one.
If the lookup does not find the account
- Search old inboxes for messages related to Microsoft Certification, AZ-900, Pearson VUE, Certiport, or exam appointments.
- If the exam account used a work or school email, contact that organization’s IT administrator. Microsoft cannot recover work or school accounts; access must be restored by the organization. Microsoft Learn requires access to at least one login account associated with the profile ^2^.
- If you identify a possible email address but cannot sign in, use Microsoft’s sign-in assistance page ^3^.
Use the certificate to request certification assistance
If account lookup does not resolve the issue, submit a Credentials Support request:
- Open Credentials support ^4^.
- Select:
- Product family: Learning
- Product or Service: Microsoft Credentials
- Type of Support: Professional No Charge
- Preferred contact method: Email
- Explain that you passed Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) but forgot the account used for the exam.
- Attach the certificate and provide any available non-sensitive identifying information, such as:
- Full name used for the exam
- Exam name and approximate exam date
- Candidate ID or certification ID shown on the certificate
- Exam provider, if known
- Current contact email
Do not post the certificate, candidate ID, email address, or other personal details publicly on Microsoft Q&A.
Credentials Support can investigate certification-record issues, but it cannot recover a personal Microsoft account or transfer/restore a Learn profile that cannot be accessed. Personal-account recovery must be completed through Microsoft Account self-service; work or school account recovery must go through the organization’s administrator ^2^.
