Received an email from Amazon saying my email was changed in my Amazon account. I did not do this. Spoke to Amazon and to get my old email back onto my account, I need access to the new account. How do I do this ?

You cannot access the replacement email address or Amazon account created by another person; Amazon must verify ownership and restore your original Amazon account through its official recovery channels.

    Recover the Amazon account

    1. Do not use links in the notification email. Open Amazon’s official Help with signing in page directly and start the password/account-recovery process using the email address or phone number previously associated with the account. ^1^
    2. If two-step verification prevents access, select Didn’t Receive the Code, then Two-Step Verification Account Recovery. ^2^
    3. If recovery cannot identify the account because its email was changed, return to Amazon’s official Help & Contact Us page and ask Customer Service to escalate an unauthorized account email change/account takeover. ^3^
    4. Once Amazon restores access, open Account → Login & Security and replace the unknown email/phone details, set a unique password, and enable two-step verification. Amazon manages those personal details within its own account settings. ^4^

Amazon should not require you to sign in to an unknown email mailbox that does not belong to you. Explain that the attacker replaced the registered address and that you need an ownership-verification or account-takeover escalation.

    Secure Outlook.com separately

The Amazon change does not by itself prove that Outlook.com was accessed, but secure it now because email access can be used to reset other accounts:

    1. Sign in directly to the Microsoft account Recent activity page and inspect successful sign-ins, profile changes, and security-information changes from the last 30 days. For anything unrecognized, expand it and select This wasn’t me or Secure your account. ^5^
    2. Run a full antivirus scan on the device before changing the Microsoft password. Then change the password to one not used on Amazon or any other site. ^6^
    3. In Outlook.com, open Settings → View all Outlook settings → Mail:
      • Check Forwarding and disable any address you did not add.
      • Check Rules and delete unknown rules, especially ones that forward, move, or delete messages.
      • Check automatic replies and connected accounts for unauthorized changes. ^6^
    4. Update Microsoft security information, remove unrecognized trusted devices, and enable two-step verification. ^7^

If Outlook.com is already inaccessible, use Microsoft’s compromised-account sign-in helper/recovery process. Microsoft support agents cannot manually change account details or send password-reset links. ^5^

Also review Amazon orders, archived orders, payment methods, gift-card activity, and addresses after recovery; contact the card issuer immediately about any unauthorized charge.
