Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls
Hi @Calvin Ting
Thank you for sharing the issue. To better understand what is causing the echo, could you please confirm the following:
- Are you using the Teams desktop app, Teams on the web, or a mobile device?
- Does the echo happen in every meeting or only in a specific meeting?
- Are you using a headset, external speakers, or the device’s built-in microphone and speakers?
- Are multiple devices joining the meeting from the same room?
- When you select the three-dot menu, is Settings missing, greyed out, or does the menu not open at all?
- Could you please test the same Teams meeting using a different headset, microphone, or device and let us know whether the echo still occurs?
If possible, please also share a screenshot of the three-dot menu, making sure to hide any personal information.
If the echo occurs only with one particular headset, microphone, or speaker but disappears with another device on the same computer, the issue is more likely related to that audio device, its driver, or its configuration.
If the same device works normally in Teams on the web or in another application, but the echo occurs only in the Teams desktop app, please first fully quit and restart Teams and check for updates. If the issue continues, clearing the Teams cache may help with a local client issue. Reinstalling Teams can then be considered if clearing the cache does not resolve it.
I’m just another community user, not a Microsoft employee, but these details will help narrow down whether the issue is related to the audio setup, the Teams app, or the meeting environment.
