Contact Pearson VUE and explicitly request removal of the ERROR_VUE_WIDE_BLOCK; pursue the Microsoft Learn profile merge separately and in parallel, because consolidating profiles does not itself clear a Pearson VUE scheduling block.
1. Ask Pearson VUE to remove the scheduling block
A Microsoft Q&A moderator’s resolution for this exact error directs candidates to Pearson VUE to have the block lifted; failed payment attempts are a commonly reported trigger.^1^
Contact Pearson VUE from the exam scheduling support route listed on Microsoft’s Credentials Support page.^2^ Include:
- The exact error:
ERROR_VUE_WIDE_BLOCK - The date and approximate time of the failed payment attempt
- Confirmation that no appointment or payment was completed
- Confirmation that Microsoft’s Security Team found no exam ban or restriction
- A direct request to remove the VUE-wide block
- Your existing Pearson VUE case number, if any
Do not post certification IDs, case numbers, email addresses, or identity documents publicly.
2. Merge the Learn profiles
Microsoft has retired the MCID as the active profile identifier; the current identifier is the Learn Username. A Learn profile merge combines learning progress, credentials, and transcripts, and it cannot be undone.^3^
Choose the profile associated with the personal Microsoft account that you want to retain, then:
- Sign in to that preferred Microsoft Learn profile.
- Select the profile icon → Settings.
- Under Account Management, select Add login account.
- Sign in with an account currently attached to the other Learn profile.
- If Learn reports that the account belongs to another profile, approve the profile merge.
- Open Profile → Credentials → Certifications and verify that the credential records from both profiles appear.
Adding an account already associated with another Learn profile triggers the merge. All progress and credentials are brought together, and the login accounts from both profiles remain usable.^4^
This direct process applies only when the resulting profile contains no more than:
- One personal Microsoft account
- Five work or school accounts
3. If both profiles contain personal Microsoft accounts
Two personal accounts cannot be linked directly to the same Learn profile. A moderator-recommended workaround uses an accessible work or school account as a temporary bridge:^5^
- Sign in to the profile using the old personal account.
- In Settings → Account Management, add a work or school account.
- Sign out, then sign in to Learn using that work or school account.
- Remove the old personal account from Account Management.
- Select Add login account and add the preferred personal account. Because it belongs to the other profile, this should trigger the profile merge.
- After confirming the merge and credential records, optionally remove the temporary work or school account.
Use this only if the work or school account is under your control and you can complete authentication. Do not delete either Learn profile: profile deletion permanently removes its credentials and other Learn data.^4^
4. If the merge cannot be completed
Credentials Support is the appropriate fallback if:
- The bridge account is unavailable.
- Learn does not offer the merge.
- Ownership verification is required.
- Certifications remain split after the merge.
- One of the relevant login accounts is inaccessible.
Because you already have a Credentials Support case, reply to the existing case email rather than opening duplicates. Request that the case be reviewed for a Learn profile/certification-record merge, and provide privately:
- Both Learn Usernames
- The preferred personal account and primary Learn profile
- The login accounts associated with each profile
- Screenshots showing the records are split
- Pearson VUE’s statement that multiple profiles exist
If the existing case cannot be continued, use the official Credentials Support request process. Select Learning → Microsoft Credentials → Professional No Charge → Email; Credentials Support is email-only. Attach a screenshot showing that the Engage Center remains stuck loading.^2^
After the merge, keep a personal Microsoft account attached to the final profile so the credentials remain accessible if access to an employer or school account ends.^3^
