Problem description

I am trying to scale my Azure Managed Redis instance in North Europe to the SKU Balanced_B10. However, I receive an error message stating that scaling to this SKU is not supported for my subscription in that region. I want to know if support can enable access to this SKU for my subscription.

Environment

Azure Managed Redis in North Europe

What I've already tried

I attempted to scale the existing Redis deployment to Balanced_B10 via the Azure portal and received the support support message indicating the SKU is not supported for my subscription in North Europe. I also reviewed self-help material suggesting choosing a different SKU or creating a new resource in a different region, but I did not try these options.

Current status

I am seeking assistance to determine if support can enable access to the Balanced_B10 SKU for my subscription in North Europe or advise on alternative solutions.

    Hello Simon Minotto

Balanced_B10 is a valid Azure Managed Redis SKU. Your error indicates that this particular scaling operation is restricted for your subscription and region, potentially because of regional capacity or subscription-level SKU eligibility.

First run this read-only check against your existing cache:

    az redisenterprise list-skus-for-scaling \
      --resource-group <RG> \
      --cluster-name <CACHE_NAME>

This is Microsoft's documented API for identifying available scaling targets. If Balanced_B10 is missing, that is useful evidence of a restricted scaling path. Even if it appears, actual regional placement capacity is not guaranteed.

    Official CLI documentation

Ask Microsoft to check SKU entitlement and regional capacity for Microsoft.Cache/redisEnterprise, Balanced_B10, North Europe.

Open Azure Portal → Help + support → Create a support request → Service and subscription limits (quotas) → Other Requests, or select the Azure Managed Redis quota option if available.

    Request:

"Please review and enable scaling of my existing Azure Managed Redis instance to Balanced_B10 in North Europe. Confirm whether the restriction is subscription-specific or caused by regional capacity."

Include the subscription ID, resource ID, current SKU, target SKU, exact error, UTC timestamp and correlation ID.

**I would not delete or recreate the existing Redis instance until Microsoft confirms availability or a replacement is ready.

**There are similar errors reported to Microsoft:
