Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
If Outlook 2013 is asking for Office repair, run an Office repair from Windows.
- Close Outlook and any other Office apps.
- Open the repair tool:
- Windows 11: Right-click Start > Installed apps.
- Windows 10: Right-click Start > Apps and Features.
- Or open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Find Microsoft Office 2013 or the installed Office product.
- Select it, then choose Modify or Change.
- If prompted for repair type:
- Start with Quick Repair if available.
- If Outlook still does not open, run Online Repair. This is more complete and can fix corrupted Office files.
- For MSI-based installs, select Repair and then Continue.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
- Restart the computer if prompted, then try opening Outlook again.
If Outlook still does not open after repairing Office:
- Start Outlook in Safe Mode: press Windows + R, type
outlook /safe, then select OK. - If Outlook freezes or still fails, repair Outlook data files by using the Inbox Repair Tool: Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost).
