A fully managed end-to-end service for digitally signing code, documents, and applications. (formerly Trusted Signing)
For Artifact Signing identity validation errors that include Face Check failure, the documented next step is to delete the existing identity validation request, remove the associated Verified ID from Microsoft Authenticator, and then submit a new identity validation request and create a new Verified ID.
For the retry, make sure:
- All identity details exactly match the government ID and request data.
- The verification environment has adequate lighting.
- Microsoft Authenticator is fully closed and reopened before retrying.
- The latest Microsoft Authenticator version is installed.
- Browser cache is cleared or a different browser is used.
- Weak Wi-Fi and any VPN/proxy are avoided.
- If possible, a different phone is tried.
Relevant Face Check behavior:
- If the Face Check confidence score is below the required threshold, the verification fails.
- The verifier application does not receive the score when the Face Check fails.
- Face Check results can be affected by lighting, bright windows, and background conditions.
- A blurry or low-quality photo in the Verified ID can also reduce match success.
The available documentation does not confirm that an In Progress status means a backend update is still pending, and it does not provide a supported way to inspect the backend verification result from here. The supported guidance in the documented Artifact Signing flow is to recreate the validation after deleting the failed request and removing the existing Verified ID.
