Startups: Companies that are in their initial stages of business and typically developing a business model and seeking financing.
To complete business verification in Microsoft for Startups, the path depends on how the application was started:
- If the application used an investor referral code:
- Enter the referral code and select Next.
- Complete contact email verification by selecting Send code, entering the code from email, and selecting Verify.
- Complete phone verification the same way by text message.
- Fill in the Business information form with:
- Registered startup name
- Primary industry
- Website, if available
- Registered business address
- Submit the application.
- If the application was started without an investor referral code:
- The initial path goes directly to Azure account creation and LinkedIn identity verification for the first credit milestone.
- Business verification is required later for the $5,000 milestone. Credit progression is automatic once the required conditions are met.
For the business information step, the registered startup name and address must exactly match legal business documents. Mismatches can cause business verification to fail.
If the verification page or prompt is not visible:
- Check whether the application was actually submitted. In Partner Center, the verification status page appears only after submission.
- Allow time if the status recently changed, because updates can take time to reflect.
- In the Microsoft for Startups Portal, sign in and submit a support ticket:
- Select the ? icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Submit a Support Ticket.
- Attach screenshots of the missing verification flow or any errors.
If profile details such as startup name, address, or email are incorrect, update them in the Microsoft for Startups Portal:
- Sign in to the portal.
- Select the gear icon in the top-right corner.
- On My profile, choose edit for the field to change.
- Select Save changes.
If the email address is updated, a verification email is sent.
