    Hi,

Please go to 3 dots on the right > Settings > System and Perfomance > Hardware acceleration > Turn off the slider for hardware acceleration, which should solve the issue.

A green screen during video playback in Microsoft Edge is commonly related to hardware acceleration, codec support, or the video decoder path.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check whether hardware acceleration is enabled.
      • Open edge://settings/system
      • Turn on Use graphics acceleration when available
      • Restart Edge
    2. Verify video decoding status.
      • Open edge://gpu
      • Check whether Video Decode shows Hardware accelerated
      • If it does not, playback problems can occur
    3. Check which decoder Edge is using.
      • Open edge://media-internals
      • Reproduce the problem while playing a video
      • Look for:
        • codec: h264 or codec: avc1
        • kVideoDecoderName
      • Decoder meanings:
        • D3D11VideoDecoder or MediaFoundationVideoDecoder = hardware decoding
        • FFmpegVideoDecoder = software decoding
    4. If hardware acceleration is already enabled but video is still green or fails:
      • Update the GPU driver from the device manufacturer
      • Turn Use graphics acceleration when available off, then back on
      • Restart Edge
      • Recheck edge://media-internals to see whether the decoder path changed
    5. Check whether the video format is supported.
      • Edge does not support all codecs natively
      • Some formats can cause audio-only playback or failed playback
      • XAVC / XAVC HS is not supported by the built-in Windows playback stack
      • Widely supported formats include H.264 video in an MP4 container with AAC audio
    6. If the problem is with HEVC/H.265 video:
      • Open PowerShell as administrator and run:
             Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *HEVC* | Select-Object Name, PackageFullName

      • If Edge shows HEVC decoder license errors, remove the existing HEVC package, restart the PC, and install the official HEVC Video Extension from the Microsoft Store
      • Risk: removing Appx packages changes installed media components, so only do this if HEVC playback is the issue
    7. If the problem happens mainly on Netflix or other protected-content sites:
      • Open edge://components
      • Verify that Widevine Content Decryption Module is present
      • DRM playback problems can prevent protected video from playing correctly

If the issue continues, collect these details before contacting support:

    • Edge version from edge://settings/help
    • GPU report from edge://gpu
    • Playback logs from edge://media-internals
    • Active policies from edge://policy
