Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Android

Hi
Our business replaced our old Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 tablets with new S10 Lite ones a few months ago.
Since then, we have ran into an issue where users cannot open text-based links directly with the context menu, if they are written into a text field inside the Edge browser.
The way it worked was to leave a link of reference for certain data gathered. The web application this data is inserted into doesn't automatically generate links, so the links stay as text with the rest of the information. When viewing the data, you could long-tap the link so it gives you this context menu with different options (copy, share etc...) You'd select "select all", so it highlights the whole link and then the browser recognizes it as a link and gives you the the option to open said link within the browser. This "open link" is no longer provided in Edge.
There's about 30 users using this tablet and oddly, some did have this option for a few weeks when they first started using it, but reported it suddenly disappearing one day. It's unclear if it was related to some kind of an update, but logs show they had different OS versions.
Also this option is still there on the old tablet and we also checked some other mobile devices (a couple Galaxy S23 phones) and they also had this version, updated to the latest OS.
Also, other browsers have this option (we tested Chrome, Firefox and Samsung's own browser), where all of them did have this option, only Edge seems to be missing this option.
Something also worth nothing is that since the default browser is set to Edge, when trying to open the link in Samsung's browser, it gives the option to open that link in the defined default browser, so Edge.
Unfortunately our policy only allows using business-related web applications in Edge, and yes - we do have a work profile with Edge, but the option is missing even in personal Edge. We even tried factory resetting one of the tablets and without giving it updates or setting up a work profile, the option still wasn't there.
Is this a compatibility bug with Edge and S10 or is this some kind of a setting we'd have to enable to get that option back in the context menu? We went through many different settings in Edge (both intergrated settings, as well as more specific edge://flags) and the tablet itself, as well as trying out some out of the box solution like a different keyboard (Gboard), using desktop view in the browser or changing up the links (like including https:// instead of just www.)
The alternative solution is to select the whole link, copying it and pasting it into a new tab to open it, but obviously the users are not happy with the extra steps, especially since it works on other android devices.
Work policy has also forbidden installing most extensions that could be a workaround.
