Slow, laggy, or crashing mobile apps on Android can be caused by the app itself, the underlying subsystem, or device resource limits. For Microsoft-related scenarios (such as Microsoft Edge or other mobile apps on Windows/Android), try the following steps.

    1. Restart the Android app platform (Windows Subsystem for Android) If running Android apps on a Windows 11 PC (for example, using Microsoft Edge plus Android apps via Amazon Appstore):
    2. Open Start and search for Windows Subsystem for Android Settings.
    3. Open it and select Shutdown Subsystem.
    4. Close any open mobile apps.
    5. Open a mobile app again; this automatically restarts the Subsystem.

This resolves many generic performance and crash issues.

    1. Improve performance of mobile apps on Windows If Android apps or games are slow on Windows:
    2. Open Windows Subsystem for Android Settings.
    3. Set Subsystem resources to Continuous instead of As needed to keep the runtime warm and reduce lag.
    4. If the PC has multiple GPUs, change which GPU is used for better performance (via Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics).
    5. Fix network-related lag If apps feel slow because of network issues:
    6. Open Windows Subsystem for Android and check Advanced networking.
      • If On, Windows Firewall changes will not affect connectivity.
      • If Off, then:
    7. Go to Start → Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security.
    8. Select App & browser control → Firewall & network protection.
    9. Select the active network.
    10. Under Incoming connections, ensure Block all incoming connections is not selected.
    11. Reduce crashes and hangs If apps keep crashing or won’t open:
    12. Restart the Subsystem as in step 1.
    13. Force-close the problematic app:
      • Start → Settings → Apps & features.
      • Find the app → More → Advanced options → Terminate.
      • Reopen the app.
    14. Ensure Control flow guard (CFG) is enabled if apps won’t open:
      • Start → Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security.
      • App & browser control → Exploit protection settings.
      • Under System settings, set Control flow guard (CFG) to Use default (On).
    15. General device-side tips (Android/Power Apps/mobile) If using Power Apps mobile or other heavy apps on a phone or tablet and seeing restarts/lag:
    16. In the app (for example, Power Apps mobile), open the user profile page and select Clear cache to remove saved data. Note this removes any app-specific cached data.
    17. On Android devices, ensure the app is prioritized in system battery settings (disable aggressive battery optimization or “app sleep” for that app).
    18. Close other running apps and remove unneeded data (unused apps, large media) to free memory and storage.
    19. Use the app more slowly—pause briefly between screen changes, after taking pictures, or after saving/loading data to avoid spikes in memory/CPU usage that can cause restarts.

If these steps do not help and the device is still lagging badly across multiple apps, consider checking for OS updates, uninstalling and reinstalling the worst-affected apps, or backing up and performing a clean OS reinstall as a last resort.
