Everything looks okay, but after I stop recording it doesn't work. Today had 2 hour zoom and last week had 1,5h teams and both of them turned out plank - doesn't support. All the other teams / zooms has worked well, but these two... :(

    Hi Haapala Sanna,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

I understand how frustrating it is to record long meetings but then the recordings ended up unusable. Before getting further, there’s one thing I need to remind:

The Snipping Tool is a basic screen shot / recorder and is not natively designed for long, continuous recordings. Even if it works most of the time, long sessions can produce empty files.

1 - Update and repair the Snipping Tool

    • Make sure Snipping Tool is up to date.
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Snipping Tool:
      • Click the three-dot > choose Advanced options.
      • Scroll down and click Terminate > Repair.
      • If the issue persists, click Reset.

2 - Try using Xbox Game Bar for recording instead

    • Press Win + G to open Xbox Game Bar.
    • Press Win + Alt + R to start recording.
    • Press Win + Alt + R again to stop.

Repairing or resetting may help, but still Snipping Tool is not the best choice of tools for multi-hour recordings. For long sessions, a dedicated recorder is the recommended option on Windows.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the Snipping Tool not recording your screen properly during your Zoom and Teams meetings. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can consider:

    1. Check Permissions: Ensure that the Snipping Tool has the necessary permissions to record your screen. Sometimes, security settings can prevent screen recording.
    2. Update the Tool: Make sure that you are using the latest version of the Snipping Tool. Updates often fix bugs and improve functionality.
    3. Check for Conflicts: If you have other screen recording software running, it may conflict with the Snipping Tool. Try closing other applications that might be using the screen recording feature.
    4. Test with Different Settings: Sometimes, specific settings in the Snipping Tool can affect its performance. Experiment with different recording settings to see if that resolves the issue.
    5. Restart the Application: Close and reopen the Snipping Tool, or restart your computer to see if that resolves the problem.

If the issue persists, you may want to consider using alternative screen recording software that is known to work well with Zoom and Teams.
