Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hi, @Deb S
Thanks for reaching out. "Census" isn't a label Outlook adds by itself. It's most likely a color category, and a mail rule is probably tagging those emails and moving them out of your Inbox.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Sign in at outlook.com on a computer and go to Settings > Mail > Rules. Look for any rule that mentions "Census" or moves messages to another folder. If you don't remember creating it, delete it. Inbox rules can only be viewed and changed on a computer.
While you're in Settings, open Mail > Sweep and remove any entries you don't recognize. Sweep rules are kept separate from regular rules and can quietly move your mail.
Check the folder list on the left for a folder named "Census" or one you don't remember making. If your emails are there, select them and choose Move to > Inbox.
Above your message list, click Filter and make sure it's set to All. Also check both the Focused and Other tabs.
To get rid of the tag itself, go to Settings > Accounts > Categories and delete "Census."
If you didn't create that rule yourself, it's a good idea to check your account's Recent activity page for any sign-ins you don't recognize, then change your password.
Hope this helps!
