Excel will open, but only after several tries or waiting a long period for it to open. I uninstalled and reinstalled my M.O.P. 2007 from my CD and Excel was opening fine after a clean install. Several days later the Excel was having problems opening again. Support for M.O.P. 2007 has expired, but is it possible that somehow it is still being updated? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program 3 times with the same results. Is there a way to stop any changes to my freshly installed program? I have tried the safe mode method, but can't find the file option. (I did find some Excel add-ins under Customize Quick Access Toolbar.)(I did find that not closing the blank Excel file and re-clicking the desired file opened the file, but sometimes an hour glass hindered the file opening.)

    Hi @CV

I understand how frustrating this is, especially after reinstalling Office several times.

Office 2007 is no longer receiving software or security updates from Microsoft, so Microsoft Update should not be making new changes to your Excel 2007 installation. The recurring delay is more likely related to compatibility with the current Windows environment, an add-in, antivirus integration, or another system-level change rather than a new Office 2007 update.

In Excel 2007, the settings are under the Microsoft Office Button > Excel Options, rather than File > Options. However, because Office 2007 has been out of support since October 10, 2017, there are no further fixes or officially supported troubleshooting paths available for this version.

You may continue using it if it still works, but there is unfortunately no reliable way to prevent compatibility problems from returning. The practical long-term solution would be to move to a currently supported version of Office.

Thank you for your understanding and time
