Feature Request: Display Newest Responses First in Microsoft Forms – Individual Results

Dear Microsoft Forms Support Team,

I am a Microsoft Forms user, and I would like to request an important improvement to the Individual Results feature.

Currently, when I open Responses → Check Individual Results, submissions are displayed from oldest to newest. This means I have to scroll through numerous previous submissions to access the latest responses.

I would like to request the addition of a Newest First / Latest Submission First sorting option.

This feature would be extremely helpful for users who regularly monitor forms with a high volume of submissions, particularly for employee recognition surveys, customer feedback, and daily operational reporting.

I have also tried exporting the responses to Excel and sorting them by completion time. However, this does not change the order displayed in the Individual Results section of Microsoft Forms.

Could you please:

Confirm whether this feature is currently available or planned.

Consider adding a Newest First sorting option.

Forward this suggestion to the Microsoft Forms product development team.

I believe this small improvement would make Microsoft Forms much more convenient and efficient for users.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Imran Khan

Microsoft Forms currently has no documented Newest First sorting control in Check individual results, and no public roadmap commitment for that option has been identified.

    Current behavior

The documented Individual Results interface supports:

    • Moving between submissions with the left and right arrows.
    • Selecting a respondent from the respondent list.
    • Choosing Show more respondents when there are more than 50.
    • Opening a specific response by entering its response number in the Respondent field.
    • Sorting columns under More Details for an individual question—but that sorting does not apply to the overall Individual Results sequence. ^1^

Your Excel test is behaving as designed: sorting or otherwise changing the workbook does not modify the form or the ordering shown in Microsoft Forms. ^1^

    Submit the feature request

Microsoft’s supported feedback route is built into Forms:

    1. Open Microsoft Forms and any form you own.
    2. In the upper-right corner, select More form settings (…).
    3. Select Feedback.
    4. Request: Allow Check individual results to sort responses by newest first or oldest first.
    5. Include the high-volume scenarios you described and explain that Excel sorting does not alter navigation within Forms.

Microsoft explicitly directs Forms suggestions through More form settings → Feedback. ^2^

There is also an existing public request for Forms sorting that can be reviewed or supported in the Microsoft Feedback Portal. ^3^

Microsoft Learn Q&A cannot forward a post internally or confirm an unpublished development schedule. For an organizational Microsoft 365 account, administrators can also monitor Microsoft 365 admin center → Health → Message center for announced Forms changes; Microsoft identifies Message center as the location for upcoming and changed features. ^4^

    Hello Imran Khan,

I can understand why having the newest submissions appear first would be much more practical, especially when a form receives a large number of responses.

At present, Microsoft’s documentation does not list a sorting option for changing the overall order of responses in Check individual results. Exporting and sorting the responses in Excel can serve as a temporary workaround, but it will not change their order inside Microsoft Forms.

Since this community cannot confirm unpublished development plans or forward requests directly to the product team, the best option is to submit this suggestion through More form settings (…) > Feedback in Microsoft Forms. This sends the request through the channel monitored for product feedback.

You can also refer to Microsoft’s guidance on reviewing form responses here: Check and share your form results. Thank you so much for your understanding.
