Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue when trying to create a new Microsoft account on my iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 15.8.8.

Here are the details of the issue:

  • Device: iPhone 6s Plus

Operating System: iOS 15.8.8

Browsers tested: Safari, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge

Network: Mobile data (4G)

Verification method: Email verification via Gmail

Problem description:

I can successfully enter my email address and receive the verification code from Microsoft.

However, after entering the correct verification code, the registration process fails and displays the following error:

"Something went wrong. Please try again."

I have tried using different browsers, but the problem persists.

I would appreciate your assistance in identifying the cause of this issue.

Could you please clarify:

Is iOS 15.8.8 still supported for Microsoft account registration?

Is there any security restriction preventing my device from completing account registration?

Is there an alternative method to complete the registration process?

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,

    Hi Tien Tran,

Since you can receive the verification code but the process fails only after submitting it, this may be related to the registration session rather than Gmail itself.

    Please try the following:

    • On another device, such as a PC, go directly to Microsoft Account Signup and create the Microsoft account there.
    • Once the account is created successfully, sign in to it on your iPhone.
    • If another device is unavailable, switch from mobile data to a trusted Wi-Fi connection and retry the signup.

If account creation also fails on a different device/network at the verification stage, this may require an account-side review. In that case, please contact Microsoft Support and provide the exact error and the steps already tested.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.

I hope this helps narrow down whether the issue is specific to the iPhone environment or the account-creation process.

    Thank you for your response.

I would like to provide some additional information about this issue.

    1. I can successfully sign in to existing Microsoft accounts on my iPhone 6s Plus.
    2. The problem only occurs when creating a new Microsoft account.
    3. I can successfully receive the verification code via Gmail.
    4. The error appears immediately after submitting the verification code: Something went wrong. Please try again.
    5. I have tested Safari, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge, but the issue persists.
    6. My device is running iOS 15.8.8.

I would like to clarify a few things:

    • Is there any known compatibility issue with the Microsoft account signup process on iOS 15.8.8?
    • Does Microsoft apply any device-specific or browser-specific restrictions during account creation?
    • Is there any way to identify whether the registration session is being rejected by Microsoft's backend?

I would appreciate any additional troubleshooting steps specifically related to iPhone and iOS compatibility.

    Thank you for your assistance.
