Hi Aino Santanen,
I understand how frustrating this must be, especially after you have already checked the settings and even left the Microsoft Family group.
The existing answer covers the account and family permission side well. However, leaving a family group does not necessarily remove the restriction if the Microsoft account is still classified as a child or teen account.
To narrow this down, could you confirm whether you are using Minecraft: Java Edition or Minecraft for Windows/Bedrock Edition, and share the exact message displayed when you select Multiplayer or Realms?
In the meantime, please also check the following:
- Update Minecraft and the Minecraft Launcher to the latest version. If you are using a Preview or Snapshot build, switch to the latest stable release.
- If you are joining another person’s Bedrock world, ask the host to confirm that multiplayer is enabled in that world’s settings.
- Make sure the Microsoft Store, Xbox app, and Minecraft Launcher are all signed in with the same Microsoft account.
- Temporarily return any custom DNS or unusual network configuration to its default setting, as this can sometimes prevent multiplayer connections.
You can find additional troubleshooting steps in the official Minecraft multiplayer guide.
If the Xbox privacy page does not allow you to change the settings, or the account is incorrectly treated as an underage account, this will need to be reviewed by Xbox Support. This is a user-to-user support forum, so contributors cannot access or change the account’s age classification or back-end permissions. Thank you so much for your understanding.
