Hi, I am a student from Thailand, from the Mae Fah Luang University located in Chiang Rai. I activated my github student pack a while ago. I was doing the hotel internal system web application for my senior project and wanted to deploy it on azure. So, I went on with the guideline and try to claim the azure free credit. After a plethora of loggin in through multiple chrome tag, it said and I quoted "You're not eligible for an Azure free account" Before you reply, I have absolutely follow the exact steps as the guideline, including but not limited to using my student gmail account. So, please someone help me on this.

Apply directly for Azure for Students using your university-issued email address instead of redeeming through GitHub; GitHub Student Developer Pack approval does not automatically establish eligibility in Azure’s separate verification system.^1^

    Apply through direct academic verification

Since you have already followed the GitHub redemption instructions and tried multiple browser sessions, use this different verification path:

    1. Open the Azure for Students page.
    2. Select Start free.
    3. Sign in with the Microsoft identity connected to your institution-issued email address, rather than selecting GitHub authentication.
    4. Complete the verification sent to that institutional address.
    5. After activation, confirm that Azure for Students appears under Azure portal → Subscriptions.

    The email distinction is important:

    • If “student Gmail” means an ordinary address ending in @gmail.com, it does not meet the documented institutional-email requirement. Use the address issued by Mae Fah Luang University.
    • If the university uses Google Workspace and the address ends in the university’s own domain, use that university-domain address even though Gmail hosts its mailbox.

Azure for Students requires full-time attendance at an accredited, degree-granting institution, academic-status verification through the institution’s email, and—under the current program documentation—affirmation that the applicant is at least 18. The offer is limited to one subscription per eligible customer.^2^

If direct verification still says “not eligible”

Submit an eligibility-review request to Microsoft rather than repeating the signup process:

    1. Open the Azure support request page.
    2. Choose the closest available category for Subscriptions, Azure for Students, or Azure for Education; the labels displayed can vary.
    3. If the portal does not expose an appropriate category, use Azure for Education Support and request a manual eligibility review.
    4. Include:
      • The exact error: “You’re not eligible for an Azure free account.”
      • Your country and university name.
      • A screenshot of the rejection, without passwords, verification codes, or other sensitive data.
      • Confirmation that you are currently a full-time student.
      • Your university email domain.
      • Confirmation that direct institutional-email verification also failed.
      • Whether you have ever activated Azure for Students under another Microsoft account.

    Ask Support specifically to check:

    • Whether the university email domain is recognized for academic verification.
    • Whether an earlier Azure for Students eligibility or redemption record is associated with another Microsoft identity.
    • Whether the attempted redemption was processed against the wrong signed-in Microsoft account.

Those eligibility and prior-redemption records cannot be inspected or changed through the user-facing Azure portal or by Microsoft Q&A community responders; Microsoft Support can perform the required backend review.^3^ Microsoft’s general Azure signup guidance also directs unresolved subscription signup problems to an Azure support request.^4^

Do not create a pay-as-you-go subscription merely to work around this rejection if the goal is the student credit; it does not resolve the separate Azure for Students eligibility decision.
