Missing Win11 Pro License Key after Hard Drive Wipe

I was forced to wipe my hard drive completely, I kept no files or settings. I took this path because a recent Windows Update caused my Asus Laptop to go into a continuous cycle of crashes, that were only recoverable by using a Point in Time Recovery Point which then failed again. It appears as though some software or setting had a major conflict.

This Asus laptop was originally shipped with Win10, just prior to Win11 being launched. I loaded Win11 Pro successfully and have run it for a number of years until last week.

Asus can/will only provide a Win10 license key. The only way I can prove that I have a valid Win11 Pro license is that there are two separate BitLocker Recovery ID's associated with this Laptop and Microsoft account.

The help files and AI chatbot simply go in circles.

How do I get the correct license key?

Hello,

You will need to make sure that you installed the edition of Windows that came with your computer, as Windows will fail to activate if the editions do not match. However, the Windows 10 license that came with the laptop will activate Windows 11 once the editions line up.

Could you take a screenshot of the error message that pops up in Settings > System > Activation, if any, as well as a screenshot of slmgr /dlv (make sure to run that command as administrator)? Then, run the Activation Troubleshooter on the same screen and see if it can do anything. Make sure to click "I recently changed hardware" and see if any licenses are there.

I hope to hear back from you.
