I have a laptop that has two administrator accounts. One of the administrator account is a microsoft account. I used to sign in to it. But recently when I enter a password the writing appears something similar to " wrong password, enter correct password". Other times I enter the passkey for the account but "something went wrong" shows up. However at sign in to my entry to desktop screen I enter my pin for the same microsoft account and I am successful. When I click forgot

    Hi,

If I understand the issue, here is a summary.

You have 2 admin accounts. One of them has an issue. Password doesn't work; Windows Hello biometric does not work. But PIN does work. Is that correct?

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

Since the PIN still works at the Windows sign-in screen, the account itself may still be usable, but the password or account verification path is failing.

    Try this in order:

    1. Use the Microsoft account sign-in helper
Enter the email address or phone number for the Microsoft account and let the tool identify the issue: https://aka.ms/sign-in-helper
    2. If the password is correct but no longer works, recover the account
On the recovery flow, enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used for the account. Then:
      • choose where to receive the security code
      • select Next
      • enter the requested information
      • select Send code
      • enter the code in Verify your identity
      • set a New password
    3. Check that the sign-in name is exact
If the account is not recognized, verify:
      • the correct email domain is being used, such as .com vs .co.uk
      • the email name is spelled correctly
      • another alias or phone number on the account is available and can be used instead
    4. If “We couldn't find an account with that username” appears
Use the sign-in helper again. If the username and password used to work but no longer do, contact support and report that the username has stopped working.
    5. If the issue is only on the laptop sign-in flow
      For Windows sign-in problems, try:
      • Restart the device
      • make sure the device is connected to the internet from the lock screen
      • if needed, start in Safe Mode with Networking:
        1. On the sign-in screen, hold Shift and select Power > Restart
        2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart
        3. After restart, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking
    6. If Windows asks for the current password while adding or switching the Microsoft account
That prompt can refer to the local Windows account password, not the Microsoft account password. If the local account has no password, select Next without entering one. Otherwise, enter the local administrator password.

    Important:

    • Microsoft support cannot retrieve or bypass a lost or forgotten password.
    • Support agents cannot send password reset links or change account details.
