An application or feature powered by Windows Copilot to assist users with tasks and productivity
Because the same personal account reaches the limit after 2–3 ordinary messages on multiple devices over several days, report it from Copilot and then contact Microsoft Support to request an account-level quota review.
Microsoft does not publish a fixed daily prompt allowance for free Copilot. Free use is subject to available capacity and limits, and Microsoft states that limits can vary by feature, entry point, and system conditions and may change over time.^1^^2^
There are recent public reports matching the 2–5-message symptom, but no cited official Microsoft advisory confirms that a widespread incident—or a new fixed 2–3-message limit—is currently in effect.^3^
Report the problem with diagnostic evidence
In the Copilot app:
- Select the ellipsis (…) in the upper-right corner.
- Select Send feedback.
- Select Report a problem.
- Include:
- The exact message: “You've reached your daily limit. Check back at 3:30 AM.”
- The approximate date and time of each occurrence, including time zone.
- That only 2–3 normal text messages preceded the restriction.
- That it reproduced on both phone and laptop, in multiple new conversations, with the same personal Microsoft account.
- App version, operating-system versions, and whether the prompts used plain chat rather than images, files, Voice, Vision, Tasks, or Cowork.
- A screenshot with personal information removed.
These are the official in-app reporting steps, and Microsoft specifically requests the start time, device, operating system, and screenshot.^4^
Request an account-level review
A public Q&A forum cannot inspect backend usage records or remove an account restriction. On Windows:
- Open the Get Help app.
- Search for Copilot daily limit reached after 2 messages.
- If the suggested resources do not resolve it, select Contact Support.
- Choose the affected Microsoft/Copilot service and select Confirm.
- Use an available chat or callback option.
- Ask support to check:
- Whether the displayed limit matches actual server-side usage.
- Whether an account-specific throttle or entitlement state is present.
- Whether the timestamps correlate with a known service incident.
Attach the same evidence submitted through Report a problem. Contact methods vary by region, scenario, subscription, and operating hours.^5^
If the account has a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium, or Pro subscription, also open the Microsoft account’s Services & subscriptions page and record the displayed limit or AI-credit status for the support case. Microsoft documents that this is where subscribers can view tracked AI usage.^6^
Since the behavior already reproduces across phone and laptop, repeating cache clearing, reinstalling, or switching browsers is unlikely to distinguish an account-side limit from service-side capacity enforcement.
