If the goal is to use the Gmail address as another sign-in name on the same Microsoft account, add it as an alias:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account How you sign in page.
- Select Add email.
- Add the Gmail address as another username (alias).
This lets the same Microsoft account use both addresses to sign in. It does not automatically bring Gmail messages into Outlook or Microsoft 365.
If the goal is to use Gmail inside Outlook, add it as a separate mail account:
- Open Outlook.
- Go to File > Add Account.
- Enter the Gmail address and continue the sign-in flow.
If Gmail requires extra verification, turn on 2-step verification in Gmail and create an app password. When Outlook asks for a password, use the Gmail app password instead of the normal Gmail password.
For Gmail to sync with Outlook, make sure IMAP is enabled in Gmail:
- Sign in to Gmail in a browser.
- Select the gear icon > Settings.
- Open Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Select Enable IMAP.
- Select Save Changes.
If the goal is to link a non-Microsoft account to subscription benefits in new Outlook, that is available only when the Microsoft 365 subscription is on a Microsoft account with the same email identity as the third-party account.
