Hi, I'm Bernard. I'm happy to help!

This issue occurs when Windows Search is corrupted or misconfigured. To sort out the issue, kindly follow the steps below:

    Recalibrate the search bar:

    Step 1.

Press the Windows key + R, then type in:

    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\

    Then hit OK.

    Delete the folder: Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy

(That is the Windows Search Folder)

    Step 2.

    Open the registry:

Press the Windows key + R, then type in:

    regedit

    Then hit OK

    Navigate:

    *HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion*

Then delete the "Search" folder under that

    Step 3.

Open Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell(Admin) (Press Windows key + X then click Terminal(Admin))

Copy, paste, and enter the command below:

    Add-AppxPackage -Path "C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\Appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register

Once done, restart the PC and check.

Try these steps in order for a Windows 11 search bar that does not respond:

    1. Restart Windows Font Cache Service.
      • In the taskbar search box, type services.msc and open Services.
      • Right-click Windows Font Cache Service > Stop.
      • Test Search.
      • Then right-click Windows Font Cache Service > Start.
    2. Install Windows updates.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Install all available updates, then restart the PC.
    3. Reset Windows Search.
      • First check the Windows version at Start > Settings > System > About.
      • For Windows 11 or Windows 10 version 1903 and later, use the Windows PowerShell reset method.
      • Open an elevated PowerShell window and run:
             Get-ExecutionPolicy

      • If the result is not Unrestricted, run:
             Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

      • This changes script execution policy and shows a security warning. Accept only if this is intended.
    4. If Search is still broken, regenerate the Search package data.
      • Important: this includes deleting a registry key and should be done carefully. Back up the registry first.
      • Use Windows Recovery Environment, or sign out and sign in to another user account.
      • Confirm whether Search works in a newly created Windows account.
      • Delete this folder for Windows 11: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS\_cw5n1h2txyewy
      • Open Registry Editor and go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search
      • Delete the Search registry key.
      • Open an elevated PowerShell window and run:
             Add-AppxPackage -Path "C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy\Appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register

      • Restart the computer.
    5. If the issue continues, send feedback through Feedback Hub under Desktop Environment > Search.
