This usually points to a printer driver or Print Spooler problem that started after a driver change. Since the issue began after installing a driver updater, the most direct fixes are to reset the Print Spooler and then repair or replace the printer driver.
- Reset the Print Spooler
- In the taskbar search box, type services and open Services.
- On the Standards tab, double-click Print Spooler.
- Select Stop, then OK.
- In the taskbar search box, enter %WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers.
- Open that folder and delete all files in it.
- Open Services again.
- Double-click Print Spooler.
- Select Start.
- Set Startup type to Automatic, then select OK.
- Update or reinstall the printer driver
- On Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the printer, then Manage.
- Select Update driver and follow the prompts.
- If updating does not help, remove and reinstall the printer
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the printer and choose Remove.
- Restart the PC.
- Return to Printers & scanners.
- Select Add a printer or scanner or Add device and let Windows install the recommended driver.
- If the problem started right after a recent driver update, roll back the driver
- Select Start, type Device Manager, and open it.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Right-click the printer and select Properties.
- On the Driver tab, select Roll Back Driver if available.
- Restart the PC.
- Also check the printer itself
- Make sure it is online, connected properly, and not showing a hardware message such as Offline or Out of paper.
If the printer still does not print after these steps, the third-party driver update may have installed an incompatible printer driver. In that case, install a driver that matches the Windows version and system type from the printer manufacturer, then restart the PC.
