Blocked from purchasing Azure DevOps parallel jobs — only automated replies telling me to buy support

Hello,

I’m extremely frustrated with trying to increase my Azure DevOps Microsoft-hosted parallel jobs from 1 to 2. Every purchase attempt is blocked by this message:

“As a new customer, you're limited to 1 parallel job. Check back again soon to increase MS Hosted CI/CD.”

I’ve tried every support channel available to me, but all I receive are automated replies telling me to purchase a support plan. Nobody has addressed the actual restriction, explained why it applies, or provided a resolution timeline.

I’m already trying to pay for additional capacity. Being told to purchase a support plan just to get help with a blocked purchase is unacceptable. “Check back again soon” is equally unhelpful when there is no indication of how long I’m expected to wait.

Can someone from Microsoft take ownership of this issue and escalate it to the team that can review and remove the restriction? Please provide a concrete next step and an expected timeframe, rather than another automated response directing me to buy support.

I can provide organization details and any support request numbers privately.

Yes that's the ticket. But I just received an email today saying that my issue is technical and they want me to pay for a support plan. Now I'm confused.User's image

    Hi @Shara

Your frustration makes sense, and let me clear up the one thing nobody told you: this restriction isn't a technical issue, so it never belonged in the technical support queue that keeps asking you to buy a plan. It's an abuse-prevention cap on Microsoft-hosted parallel job purchases, and it's handled by the billing side, which is free for every customer.

Here's the route that actually reaches the team that can lift it:

    1. Go to https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/devops/ and choose the billing option, not technical.
    2. Title it "Blocked from purchasing Microsoft-hosted parallel jobs, request review of new customer restriction".
    3. Include your organization URL, the Azure subscription linked for billing, how many parallel jobs you want (2), and one or two lines about what your pipelines build.
    4. Ask explicitly for the restriction to be reviewed and removed so the purchase can go through.

There's no published timer behind "check back soon", but once a case lands with that team, others have had the cap lifted within a few days and the purchase completed right after.

Posting here also helps. Moderators forward these to the backend team and will ask for your org name in a private message, so keep your case numbers handy for that.

One thing worth checking: when you tried support before, were you going through the Azure portal's Help + support? That path is where the paid-plan gate sits, which would explain the automated replies.

If this helped, please click Accept Answer so others blocked on the same purchase can find it.
