Additional chat-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
Dear Zoe Hamilton,
First, please confirm whether this happens with 1:1 chats, group chats, channel or all of them, and whether you experience the same behavior in Teams desktop, Teams on the web, and the Teams mobile app. Please also let me know your Teams version and whether the issue affects only you or multiple users in your organization.
Since the messages appear immediately when you open Teams, I’d first like to check whether the issue is specifically related to notification delivery.
Please open Teams > Settings and more (…) > Settings > Notifications and activity, then check the following:
- Under Chat and channels, make sure Chat message notifications are configured to show in banner.
- Check @Mentions and make sure they are enabled if the delayed notifications involve messages where you are mentioned.
- Under Display, make sure notifications are not muted and, if available, select Test notification to confirm whether a Teams notification appears immediately.
- If the issue involves channel posts, please also check the notification settings for the affected channel to make sure the relevant channel notifications are enabled.
In the meantime, please try these troubleshooting steps:
1.Microsoft Teams: update to the latest version.
2.Sign out and log back in: This will refresh your account linking and may resolve the issue.
3.Clear Teams cache: Cached data can sometimes cause problems. Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn
4.Reinstall Teams: If the problem persists, try completely uninstalling and reinstalling it.
- Uninstall first: Uninstall Microsoft Teams
- Then reinstall: Download Microsoft Teams Desktop and Mobile Apps | Microsoft Team
Please answer the questions above and let me know the results after completing the troubleshooting steps I provided.
Appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your update.
