Unable to Remove Old Accounts from the Microsoft Teams Sign-In Screen on macOS

On macOS, the Teams startup screen permanently shows old work accounts that I no longer use. Clearing the Teams cache, deleting Teams-related Keychain entries, removing the Teams containers and reinstalling Teams did not remove them. There is no option to delete individual accounts from the account picker. Please provide a way to remove these cached accounts from the macOS sign-in screen.

    Hi @Alina Halbe

I found a community post where another macOS user reported that standard troubleshooting, including clearing the Teams cache and reinstalling the application, did not remove the stale accounts from the Teams sign-in screen. In their case, what ultimately worked was manually removing the following entries from Keychain Access:

    • OneAuthAccount
    • login.windows.net
    • authority_map

One important detail is that these are generic authentication records, and the associated account email address may not be visible directly in the Keychain item name. As a result, if multiple stale accounts are present, you may need to remove all entries found under the keywords OneAuthAccount, login.windows.net, and authority_map, since the account information may be stored within those records rather than displayed as part of the entry name. Please note that doing so may sign you out of Teams and other Microsoft applications, requiring you to sign in again afterward.

If you haven't already, please check whether these Keychain entries are present and remove them. Afterward, restart the Mac and test Teams again.

I have tried removing and it worked for my Mac.
