I've tried to find ways to get rid of the annoying pop up but nothing works at all. Even if you were to click on browsing controls it'll ask again constantly which ruins the experience.

Xbentlyx, what notification settings on the Xbox Series X version of Microsoft edge did you change to get this pop up to stop? The pop-up is coming from edge itself, not the website. I attempted to turn off some notifications settings and the pop-up still happens.

I totally get your frustration, that “Press ≡ for game controls” popup in Microsoft Edge on Xbox is genuinely annoying, especially when it keeps reappearing and interrupts what you’re trying to do. You’re definitely not alone in running into this.

Unfortunately, at the moment there’s no setting in Edge or the Xbox system UI that permanently disables this prompt. It’s part of Edge’s built‑in controller browsing mode, and even if you open the browsing controls once, Edge often continues to show the reminder anyway. As far as current behavior goes, this is expected, even though it feels pretty broken from a user experience standpoint.

If this popup is consistently ruining your experience, the best thing you can do is send feedback directly from Edge on Xbox (menu ≡ → Send feedback).

Of course the issue would not have a solution, and probably never will.

This issue didn't exist until around February of 2026. So they must have changed something around that time. We need them to change it back or add a new setting to make this bad pop up stop. Remove the option for game controls all together. That could fix it.
