Hello, On my iPhone, Edge raises itself the volume and talks aloud even the volume is set to minimum and the mute switch is on mute postions.

This is very annoying.

Scenario to reproduce the behavior :

  1. Set the iPhone volume to minimum and activate the mute switch (on red position)
  2. Open Edge
  3. Click on the Copilot icon
  4. Click on the microphone icon to start talk chat
  5. The volume raises itself and Copilot talks aloud (the volume sets itself up)

This is a big issue when I want to use Copilot in a quiet environnement.

Second question : how to disable the "friendly" greeting ?

Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no exact solution yet for this. The next step is to provide a direct feedback to edge.

Send feedback to Microsoft(If you're not done yet, submit a feedback)

In Edge → Tap the ••• menu → “Help & feedback” → “Send feedback”

Describe exactly how Copilot is behaving: ignoring mute, raising volume, missing the toggle. The more reports, the higher priority bug fixes get.

    Hi!

On iPhone, system sounds do respect the mute switch, but apps that use "media audio" (AVAudioSession in playback mode) can override it. Edge Copilot is using that mode which is why the volume suddenly jumps, even when muted.

Unfortunately, there’s no toggle in Edge right now to force Copilot to respect the mute switch.

    Possible workaround in iPhone.

    • Lower the media volume in Control Center (not just the ringer/mute switch). That’s the volume Copilot uses.
    • Edge settings → Copilot voice → disable Read answers aloud (if available)

It’s how Edge handles voice, not your iPhone or iOS. You can send feedback in Edge (••• menu → Help & feedback → Send feedback)

This is for the second question.

    • In Edge on iOS, go to Settings → Accessibility
    • Look for Read responses aloud / Voice replies / Speech output → set to Off.
    • If that toggle isn’t visible yet (depends on region/version), the only way to suppress greetings is to stick to keyboard input instead of microphone.
