I do not have permission to manage my Azure Services.

I had previously created a free Azure account with my primary email. But Authenticator would not give me the correct code to log in.
I was advised to create a second email and create an account from that.
I now have a paid subscription.
I linked the two accounts and everything worked great for one day.

Now I do not have permission to access my resources.

I have made many calls to Microsoft while being polite, and at best I get to play phone tag and get hung up on. Normally I get disconnected fairly quickly.

The AI based help keeps referring my to instructions to using resources that give me a permission denied error.

Any advice on how to untangle this mess would be appreciated. I am new to Azure.

The docs describe a fix that fits this case if the new account is a Global Administrator of the directory that holds the subscription. Azure roles and Entra roles are separate, so being Global Administrator doesn't give you access to resources until you elevate. Try this:

    1. Sign in to the Azure portal as the Global Administrator, in the directory that contains the subscription.
    2. Go to Microsoft Entra ID, then Manage, then Properties.
    3. Set "Access management for Azure resources" to Yes and select Save.
    4. Sign out and back in.
    5. Open the subscription, go to Access control (IAM), and assign yourself Owner.

Then set the toggle back to No. The toggle only appears for Global Administrators, so if you don't see it, tell us which account created the subscription and which account you sign in with now.
