Azure App Service is a service used to create and deploy scalable, mission-critical web apps.
Azure App Service: "Cannot find Subscription with name" when creating Microsoft.Web/serverfarms (Linux)
I am trying to create an App Service Plan (Linux) for a .NET 10 API, and creation fails with the same error in both the Azure Portal and Azure CLI.
Error:
text
Cannot find Subscription with name <subscription-id>.
Environment:
Subscription state: Enabled (confirmed via az account show)
Resource group: realkevbase-rg (East US)
az provider show --namespace Microsoft.Web --query registrationState returns "Registered"
The subscription was created today (new pay-as-you-go subscription)
What I have tried:
Azure Portal unified creation wizard — fails with ARM template error:
json
"code": "NotFound",
Azure CLI — az appservice plan create --name realkevbase-plan --resource-group realkevbase-rg --location eastus --is-linux --sku B1 — same error.
Switched SKU to P0v4 (to rule out quota) — same error.
Confirmed Microsoft.Web is Registered.
Registered Microsoft.ResourceHealth and Microsoft.AlertsManagement (both now show "Registered").
Additional context:
Resource Health queries were returning 409/AuthError before registering Microsoft.ResourceHealth; that is now resolved.
I found a very similar Microsoft Q&A case from November 2026 (Flex Consumption Function App, same Cannot find Subscription error on Microsoft.Web/serverfarms, subscription Active, Microsoft.Web Registered). The official response stated that when the CLI reproduces the same failure, the remaining fault lies in the subscription/provider control plane and requires Microsoft to correct the backend state.
Question: Could a Microsoft engineer check whether this subscription has the same backend control-plane state issue for Microsoft.Web? The error is identical across Portal and CLI, which suggests it is not a client-side or quota problem. I am on the Basic support plan, so I cannot open a technical support ticket directly; I am posting here as instructed.
I can provide the full subscription ID and deployment Correlation ID privately if needed. I am trying to create an App Service Plan (Linux) for a .NET 10 API, and creation fails with the same error in both the Azure Portal and Azure CLI.
