How do I reinstall Office Professional Plus 2013? It was running on my computer and was not uninstalled before Windows failed and was deleted and reinstalled.

    Hi Ralph,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

For Office Professional Plus 2013, this version is typically provided through the Volume Licensing program.

To download, install, and use Office Professional Plus 2013 again, you should contact the organization or person who originally provided you with the product key. They should be able to provide you with the appropriate installation media and guide you through the activation method corresponding to the type of license you purchased.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.

Reinstall Office Professional Plus 2013 from the original licensing channel—your organization’s IT department for a volume license, or your Workplace Discount Program order and product key if it was purchased through an employer.

    1. Identify how Office Professional Plus was obtained

Unlike ordinary retail Office editions, Professional Plus was commonly distributed through an organization or Microsoft’s Workplace Discount Program (formerly Home Use Program).

    • Organization or work license: Contact the organization’s IT administrator for its Office 2013 installation media and activation method. Volume-licensed installations may use KMS or a Multiple Activation Key (MAK); a KMS installation normally activates through the organization’s network. ^1^
    • Workplace Discount Program purchase: Locate the original order and 25-character product key. This program requires the key when reinstalling Professional Plus. ^2^
    • Previously linked to a personal Microsoft account: Sign in to the Microsoft account’s Services & subscriptions page using the account originally used to redeem Office. If Office 2013 appears, select its installation option. A key that reports it was already used should not be redeemed again; use the associated account instead. ^3^

Office 2013 is no longer generally available as a public direct download, so the original account, employer, installation media, or purchase channel is required. ^4^

    2. Install and activate it

After obtaining the correct Office Professional Plus 2013 installer:

    1. Run setup.exe and approve the User Account Control prompt.
    2. Complete the installation.
    3. Open Word or Excel.
    4. If this was a Workplace Discount Program purchase:
      • On Sign in to set up Office, select I don't want to sign in or create an account.
      • Enter the 25-character product key without hyphens. ^3^
    5. If it is an organization-issued copy, connect to the organization’s network or VPN if IT uses KMS, or follow IT’s MAK activation instructions.

The previous Windows installation being erased does not provide installation files or recover the full product key. If neither the original account nor key is available, provide the purchase receipt or order confirmation to the original seller, employer, or Microsoft Support; do not purchase a standalone key from an unofficial key seller.

    Important limitation

Office 2013 support ended on April 11, 2023. It can continue to run, but Microsoft no longer supplies technical support, bug fixes, or security updates, so upgrading to a supported Office release is strongly recommended. ^5^

A Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be used to download Office 2013 from the account portal; subscribers receive the current Office version instead. ^6^
