Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Install Microsoft 365 on the second computer by signing in to the Microsoft 365 Apps page with the same licensed work or school account, then downloading and running Microsoft 365 apps.
Install on the second Windows computer
- Go to Microsoft 365 Apps.
- Select Sign in and use the work or school account that has your Microsoft 365 license.
- Select Install apps. If necessary, first select Apps in the left navigation.
- Select Microsoft 365 apps.
- When the download finishes, open the setup file:
- Microsoft Edge: Run
- Chrome: Setup
- Firefox: Save File, then open the downloaded file
- If Windows displays a User Account Control prompt, select Yes.
- Wait until “You’re all set! Office is installed now” appears, then select Close.
- Open Word or Excel, accept the license agreement, and sign in with the same licensed work or school account if prompted. Microsoft 365 should then activate. ^1^
A Microsoft 365 business user can install and sign in on up to 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets, and 5 phones. Stay signed in to keep the desktop applications activated. [^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Office for business")
If “Install apps” is missing
Your account must have a Microsoft 365 license that includes the desktop applications. Contact your organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to verify that a qualifying license is assigned to your user account. The administrator may also control software installation in your organization. ^1^
If Office is already installed but not activated:
- Open Word or Excel.
- Select File → Account → Sign In.
- Sign in with the work or school account to which the Microsoft 365 license is assigned. [^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Office for business")
