I was having trouble with QR Code Add-ins in my Office 2019. I tried many things and eventually ran what I thought was a repair. This turned out to be an Instal of MS 365. Now my Word tells me I need to activate it again as I can't do anything with the document I've been working on for months. I've had my office download activated for so long I can't remember where my activation code is and I can't find it anywhere. As a pensioner I can't afford a monthly 365 subscription. I've been more than happy for many years with my product, but now it seems those days are over. I have a LITTLT bit of computer literacy but I'm no expert. Please, can someone help an 80 year old?

    Hello Ian Coots,

I'm sorry you're having this trouble, especially with a document you've been working on for months. The good news is that you shouldn't need to purchase Microsoft 365 again if you still have a valid Office 2019 license.

Before trying the reinstallation suggested earlier, you can try something simpler:

    1. Open Word > File > Account.
    2. Under Product Information, look for Switch License or Change License.
    3. If available, select it and sign in with the Microsoft account you originally used for Office 2019.
    4. If your Office 2019 license appears, select it and follow the activation prompts.

You can also check whether Office 2019 is linked to your account here: https://account.microsoft.com/services

If the license-switching option isn't available or Office 2019 doesn't appear, let us know what you see under Product Information. We can then help you work out the next step without unnecessarily removing your software.

@Ian Coots Hello, you may not need to buy Microsoft 365. Sign in to your Microsoft account and check Services & subscriptions. If Office 2019 is listed, uninstall Microsoft 365 and reinstall Office 2019. Back up your document first.

If you found this helpful, please consider accepting it as the solution.
