Microsoft Q&A moderators and community advisers cannot access, review, reinstate, or internally escalate a Microsoft Rewards account; only Microsoft Rewards Support can examine the account-specific records and change the restriction.^1^
Microsoft’s published guidance does not provide a separate named “human review” escalation route or a guaranteed removal timeframe. It says search limitations are removed after search patterns are determined to be normal—not automatically after a particular number of days.^2^
What to do now
Since eight Rewards tickets have already produced the same response, submitting another identical request is unlikely to add useful information. Instead:
- Continue genuine searches without attempting to maximize the daily points.
- Spread searches throughout the day.
- Avoid rapid back-to-back queries.
- Do not enter sequences of numbers or letters solely to earn points.
- Do not use bookmarks to open many results rapidly, bots, macros, or other automation.^2^
- Check for other account-policy factors that could prolong scrutiny.
Avoid VPN or location-masking services, multiple Rewards accounts, inaccurate account details, earning in multiple countries on the same day, or redeeming outside the country where points were earned.^3^
- Preserve the eight case numbers and automated replies.
If Rewards Support offers a reply or follow-up mechanism, reference the earliest case and provide a concise timeline:
- Date sequential searches stopped
- Confirmation that no automation, macro, or VPN is now used
- Dates and case numbers of previous requests
- Exact restriction message
- A request for account-specific review rather than general search guidance
Do not post case numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, screenshots containing personal information, or account details publicly.
- If an alternative contact option appears for your account or region, Microsoft Q&A has recommended using Microsoft Support’s virtual agent, entering “Microsoft Rewards account restricted,” and then requesting “Talk to a person” or “Agent.” Chat or callback availability varies.^4^ General support still cannot necessarily remove the restriction; the account decision remains with Rewards Support.
Why a Q&A escalation would not provide account review
Q&A moderators can technically mark a forum thread as escalated, but that only places the question in the moderation queue so the wider moderator community can help answer it.^5^ It does not escalate a Rewards case to the team that can inspect account activity.
Therefore, a moderator may guide the discussion or privately request information, but cannot use Q&A thread escalation to force a manual Rewards-account review. An accepted answer addressing this exact type of request confirms that forum moderators cannot forward the case, interact with its progress, or change backend account status.^1^
The restriction remaining after one month does not by itself show that the system is stuck. Microsoft documents removal based on when activity is judged normal, without publishing the evaluation window or guaranteeing reinstatement after a set period.^2^
