Suddenly after a Windows 11 update on about Oct 27, 2026 I started getting OneDrive failures, including:
"we can't sync your onedrive folder"
"We couldn't find your onedrive on SPO"
I get "Upload Blocked" on files, when OneDrive is working for 30 minutes after a new install
Signing in to Onedrive give a pop up box with a spinning circle

I have a Family M365 account with lots of OneDrive storage available.
PC is running Windows 11 Pro.

I tried lots of things to fix OneDrive but none worked:

  • onedrive.exe /reset
  • "Also, unlink and relink your OneDrive account. Open OneDrive Settings, go to the Account tab, and click Unlink this PC. Then, sign in again and set up OneDrive from scratch."
  • Also deleted Windows credentials for OneDrive
  • Also uninstalled then reinstalled OneDrive - then it works for 30 minutes and then "couldn't find your onedrive on SPO" always appears
  • Also did a Windows refresh in place when app are retained.
  • Also did a pause then resume on OneDrive (when I get it working after a new install of OneDrive)
  • Signed out of M365 apps, then signed back in.

I only have one account for M365 and the same account is used by OneDrive

I don't use Sharepoint

Windows is up to date - but this is seemed to have caused the problem since I have other PCs and once they get the update and then restart, OneDrive fails.

Thanks

Hello again,

Updating to 26.198.1011.0006 INSIDER version solved the problem.

This method saved me for now:

  1. Clean uninstall OneDrive
  2. Delete the folder and all the files from your computer
  3. I don't know is it necessary but I also deleted all the program and setting folders associated with Onedrive
  4. Restart PC
  5. Download the last version of Onedrive and install
  6. Login your account and wait for the first sync process (I didn't download any of my files, just used selective download)
  7. After sync completed, go to SETTINGS > ABOUT page and turn on the Insider version download, close settings and wait for OneDrive to update itself to the Insider version. After update OneDrive will restart. Check if it's version is 26.198.1011.0006
  8. Restart PC and check the problem solved or not.

Like I said, these steps worked well for me, I hope it proves useful to you as well.

    Hello BillP,

Thank you for listing everything you have already tried.

Since the issue returns shortly after reinstalling OneDrive and also affects the sign-in window, this may involve cached OneDrive sign-in configuration rather than storage capacity or an individual file.

Before proceeding, please sign in to OneDrive on the web and confirm that your important files are available there. Also copy any files showing Upload Blocked that exist only on the PC to a separate folder outside OneDrive.

    Then try the following:

    1. Completely close OneDrive and all Microsoft 365 applications.
    2. Press Windows key + R.
    3. Enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\settings
    4. Find and delete PreSignInSettingsConfig.json.
    5. Restart Windows, open OneDrive, and sign in again with your personal Microsoft account.

If the sign-in window continues spinning, temporarily connect one affected PC through a mobile hotspot and test OneDrive again. This can help determine whether the sign-in request is being interrupted by the normal network, DNS configuration, security software, or firewall.

Please also provide the following so the issue can be narrowed down:

    • The Windows version and OS build shown under Settings > System > About
    • The OneDrive version under OneDrive Settings > About
    • The Windows update KB number installed immediately before the issue started
    • Whether OneDrive on the web opens normally
    • Whether the problem remains when using a mobile hotspot

Because the same behavior appears on multiple PCs after restarting, please avoid deleting the OneDrive folder or repeatedly reinstalling it until the cloud copy and any unsynced local files are secured.

Please feel free reply back to this post if you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help.
