Invoice issued to personal name instead of company

Hi,

I placed a pre-order for a Surface Laptop Ultra for Business from my personal Microsoft account by mistake. The order was paid with a company card and the payment has already been charged.

I don’t want to cancel the order. I only need the invoice reissued in the company’s name with the company’s EU VAT number.

The Microsoft Store for Business sales team told me that Billing Support handles invoice changes. What is the correct way to request this, and which details do you need from me?

Thanks

Hi Justas,

Unfortunately, even though the Sales team directed you to Billing Support, what you are asking for is not actually possible due to strict EU tax compliance and automated billing system policies.

Microsoft cannot retroactively change a consumer invoice (B2C) into a business tax invoice (B2B). Because you were logged into a personal Microsoft account at the time of checkout, the system legally generated a personal receipt. Billing Support does not have the ability to manually edit an already-issued invoice to add a company name or an EU VAT number.

Even though you do not want to cancel the order, cancelling is the only way to fix this. To get a valid commercial invoice with your company's EU VAT number, you must:

Cancel this current pre-order before it physically ships.

Log in using a proper Microsoft Business account.

Add your company details and EU VAT number to the billing profile before checkout.

Place a brand new order for the Surface Laptop Ultra.

(Note: Since this is a public community forum, please do not post any order numbers, personal details, or VAT numbers here).
